Check Source, Sr-90, 33 MBq (892 µCi) Model 30-657 SR-90 is a long-lived isotope with a steady rate of decay and it can be used to accurately check the calibration of various types of ionization chambers. SR. 90 ideally satisfies regulatory requirement IEC 60731 for use as a radioactive stability check device. Specifically. the Sr-90 Radioactive Check Device, Model 60-657, contains a 33.3 MBq Sr-90 source and is equipped with an attached thermometer. It is intended to be used with cylindrical or thimble type ionization chambers. Measurements made using the Sr-90 check source must be corrected for the half-life, 28.7 years. Under constant environmental conditions (temperature, air pressure, air humidity), the current produced by this device in an ionization chamber is reproducible with an uncertainty of Â±1%. A second version, Model 30-658, containing 20 MBq Sr-90, is also available and intended for use with parallel-plane type ionization chambers. Note: A radioactive material license is required for this check device prior to purchase.
